Key takeaways

Showing yourself love and working towards your own happiness should always be a priority, that’s why it’s important to find ways to perk yourself up when you’re feeling down. Here are a few self-care routines for those under the weather evenings that are sometimes inevitable…

Pamper yourself

When you’re feeling down in the dumps it can be hard to get yourself back out. However, doing a few little things to make you feel better about yourself can really help. So, treat yourself to a facemask, pluck those brows, file and paint your toes and fingernails and remind yourself of the strong and beautiful woman that you are. Not only will this make you feel even better in your own skin, but it’ll also save you some hassle for the next time you need to get ready.

Have a bath

There’s no better way to relax than having a nice long hot bath. Show yourself some love by running a deep bubbly bath for an evening to yourself. Get some candles lit, turn the lights down, grab a bath bomb and appreciate some much-needed you time. Shut your eyes, relax, perhaps listen to a calming playlist, have some meditation time or listen to your favorite podcast. This will allow you to really wind down, relax both your body and mind, and feel refreshed and prepared to take on whatever the next day may bring.

Movie night

One of the best ways to show yourself some love is by appreciating your own company, doing something you might usually only do with others and show yourself that you are the only person you truly need. Whether you laugh, cry, or sit in fear watching a movie, by the time it finishes there’s no doubt you’ll be feeling refreshed having given yourself some downtime and not needed anybody else there to enjoy it with you.

Meditate

One final way to show your mind, body and soul some love is through meditation. Meditation doesn’t have to take a large amount of your time up, it can be something that you add into your routine, that you will certainly reap the benefits of. Whether you put on a guided meditation on YouTube, or with apps such as ‘Calm’ and ‘Headspace’, meditation can provide you with a number of benefits, from coming to terms with your feelings to reducing stress and improving focus.

Find a new hobby, or re-try and old one

Hobbies are a great way to have some wind-down time to yourself doing something you can enjoy. Hobbies can be anything from playing an instrument, to taking part in sports, or doing something artistic like drawing or painting. The massive range of hobbies available mean there’s no doubt you’ll find something right for you. So, whether you put on your old dancing shoes and try out a local class, have a go on your old keyboard or grab yourself a sketchpad and a set of pencils, you’ll be sure to enjoy having some you time in a new way.
