The Hormona™ Wellness Kit is designed to help you easily monitor your hormones at home. With the kit, you can track three key hormones—Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Estrogen, and Progesterone, using simple urine tests and the Hormona App.
This kit is perfect for women aged 18 and older who want to take charge of their hormone health and improve overall well-being. It includes three different tests to measure your hormone levels from your first morning urine.
Once you activate the kit through the Hormona App, you’ll receive a personalised testing schedule that aligns with your menstrual cycle, ensuring accurate results.
Please note, the Hormona™ Wellness Kit is for use with the Hormona App only. It is not a medical device and should not be used for diagnostic purposes.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is released by your pituitary gland, and it plays an important role in your menstrual cycle. It encourages the follicles in your ovaries to grow towards potentially becoming eggs, and as those follicles produce most of your Estrogen, FSH controls that too. To do this, your body requires exactly the right amount of FSH – too little and you may not produce Estrogen; too much can mean there’s a problem with your ovaries. This is why we will test your FSH at the beginning of your cycle.
Estrogen is produced by the follicles in your ovaries in response to FSH. In the follicular phase of your cycle, Estrogen sends feedback to the pituitary gland to say it’s had enough FSH. Estrogen then continues to rise with the growing follicles until a dominant follicle is selected and released at ovulation. Following ovulation in the luteal phase, there is a second rise in Estrogen levels to support implantation (in case the egg has been fertilised). This is why we will test your Estrogen levels twice in each cycle, just before ovulation, and during mid-luteal phases of your cycle. Our Estrogen test detects Estrogen’s urinary metabolite, Estrone-3-Glucuronide (E1G).
Following the release of the egg at ovulation, the empty sac that once held the egg remains as a cyst, known as the corpus luteum. The corpus luteum produces progesterone, which becomes the dominant hormone during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Progesterone plays a vital role in preparing the uterus for a potential pregnancy by thickening the uterine lining and supporting early implantation. Testing progesterone levels during the mid-luteal phase is particularly important because this is when progesterone production peaks, confirming that ovulation has occurred. Our Progesterone Test detects progesterone’s urinary metabolite, Pregnanediol Glucuronide (PdG), ensuring an accurate reflection of your body’s hormonal activity during the luteal phase.
Take a moment to read through the entire process before starting your test to ensure smooth, accurate results.
Make sure you’ve activated your test kit in the Hormona App to start your Personalised Testing Schedule. Set a reminder for your usual wake-up time (and ensure notifications are on for the Hormona App in your device settings).
Get a clean, dry container ready for your urine sample.
Place the container somewhere you’ll notice first thing in the morning!
Collect your sample using the prepared container. Ensure there’s enough to fully cover the three holes on the sample bad, but no more.
If you’re using a menstrual cup or tampon, you can leave it in. If using a pad or the free flow method, wipe away excess blood before collecting the sample to avoid contamination.
Check the app to confirm which test strip(s) to use — this will be shown clearly with colour-coded graphics.
Remove the test strip(s), each of which has a unique QR code.
Tap “Scan QR code”
in the app.
Place the test strip on the white backing card, aligning it with on-screen guide.
If you’re testing two hormones, scan each strip individually when prompted.
Remove the cap.
Submerge the sample pad in urine — do not dip past the line beneath the cap.
If testing two hormones, you can dip both strips as the same time.
Tap ‘Start 15 second timer’ in the app.
After 15 seconds, remove the strip(s) from the sample.
Point the test strip(s) downward (sample pad facing the floor).
Gently shake off any excess fluid.
Secure the cap again and place the strip flat with the QR code facing up.
The app will automatically start a countdown. Once the 15 minutes are up, your strip is ready to scan.
When the test is ready, place the strip on the white backing card and align it with the app’s on-screen coordinates.
Once the analysis is complete, your results and accompanying information will be displayed on your app screen.
The Hormona App turns your phone into a personal hormone lab, allowing you to easily analyse your hormone tests from the comfort of home. You can download it from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and it’s compatible with the following software versions:
Apple iOS 13.4 or higher, Android 6.0 and up.
During onboarding, you’ll be asked to input key menstrual cycle details, like the date of your last period and your typical cycle length. Using this information, our algorithm will predict your next period based on the calendar method of menstrual tracking.
Tracking at least 3 cycles in the Hormona App before starting hormone testing will give you a more accurate average cycle length. This will also improve the accuracy of your personalised testing schedule.
Once you’ve created your account and received your test kit, you can activate the kit directly in the app. The app will then guide you through each step of your testing journey.
The Hormona App allows you to log 45+ different symptoms daily. The more data you log, the better our algorithm gets to know you—providing even more valuable insights into your hormone health. This personalised information helps support you in living your healthiest, happiest life.
Set a reminder at your usual wake-up time to ensure you don’t miss any testing days. Make sure notifications are enabled for the Hormona App in your device settings.
With the Hormona Wellness™ Kit, you’ll have 3 testing days each cycle. However, the exact days for testing will be unique to your personal cycle. Here’s how it works:
First Testing Day: You’ll test your FSH during the follicular phase, at the beginning of your cycle, while you’re on your period.
Second Testing Day: You’ll test your Estrogen in the mid-follicular phase, just before ovulation.
Third Testing Day: You’ll test both your Estrogen and Progesterone about 1 week after ovulation, during the mid-luteal phase.
The Hormona App will guide you with reminders and instructions, so you’ll know exactly when to test based on your cycle.

Follow the testing schedule recommended by the Hormona App. This schedule is tailored specifically to your cycle, ensuring you get the most accurate readings and valuable insights.
To get started, simply follow the on-screen instructions in the app. It will guide you step-by-step, making sure you’re taking the correct hormone test at the right time. Wait for the prompts to make sure you don’t miss any steps.
For the best results, try to take the test within 30 minutes of collecting your first-morning urine.
The Hormona App will store and display your test results. This helps our algorithm learn more about your unique hormone patterns by tracking trends across your cycles.
As you complete your hormone tests, you’ll unlock personalised tips based on both the symptoms you log and your test results. The more symptoms you track and the more tests you finish, the more tips you’ll unlock. Each tip is tailored to your hormone levels, giving you insights specific to your results.
I opened the wrong test.
Can it be usable later?
Place the opened, unused test into a ziplock bag, alongside the ‘stay dry’ desiccant. Try to remove as much air as possible from the ziplock bag before closing. There is a window at the back of the desiccant that will go pink/purple if it detects moisture, indicating the test to be unusable. Use any opened test stored in a ziplock bag by the next testing day for this hormone.
I forgot to place the test on my white backing card before scanning..
Our technology has only been optimised to account for background on a white, shine-free background. Your results may not be as accurate as they would be on a white background.
I have lost my white backing card..
Don’t worry, place the test on plain white shine-free paper or card.
I am on my period and got some blood in my urine sample, will that affect my results?
If you have followed the instructions and wiped access blood before collecting your urine sample, the amount of blood in your sample should not affect the results. If there is an excessive amount of blood in the sample, please get in touch at support@hormona.io and share a photo of the sample if you’re comfortable to do so.
I have activated the kit in the app before it arrived, and now I have missed my first testing day..
It is optimal to begin on your first testing day at the beginning of the cycle. But don’t worry, you can skip the first testing day, and begin testing mid-cycle.
What if I don’t see a control line on my
test strip?
If you don’t see a control line on your test strip beside the test line, this test result is invalid. Please take a picture of this test and contact us at support@hormona.io with your order number, test reference number and lot number, along with the picture taken of the test.
Are my test results saved in the app after reading them?
Yes, you can access the results of previously taken tests in the testing dashboard.
Can I reuse my test-strip if I got an
abnormal result?
No, each individual test is for single use only. Please discard the test after scanning in the general waste bin.
The test line on my Estrogen/Progesterone Test looks really light, but the app says my levels are normal and/or high?
This is because of the science behind both our Estrogen and Progesterone Tests which are ‘competitive’ lateral flow immunoassays. These tests involve a competition between two things, the hormone in your sample, and a label on the sample pad (which creates the coloured line). The hormone in the sample will outcompete the label, and bind to the line test-line more than the label. This means the more Estrogen/Progesterone hormone in your urine sample, the more hormone is bound to the test line, and the less space for the label to bind and create a colour. The line we can see illuminated is from the label binding to the test line, so more hormone means less label binding, and a fainter line.
The test line on my Estrogen/Progesterone Test looks really dark, but the app says my levels are normal and/or low?
The same as the above scenario applies, vice versa. As both the Estrogen and Progesterone tests are competitive lateral flow immunoassays. In this case there is less hormone in your urine sample, meaning more the label which creates the coloured line has more space to bind to the sample pad and create a coloured line that is darker.
