Mission
To provide women with the tools and information they need to take control of their hormone health. By using technology driven solutions, we’re also going to close the gender data gap that affects us all.
We firmly believe that technology is vital for understanding and addressing hormone health. Using the Hormona app to track your symptoms, cycle stages and all aspects of your reproductive system means we’re able to give you a deeper and more personalized knowledge of your body and overall health. But it also means that we can take that anonymous data and and use it to drive change in women’s healthcare, close the gender data gap in medical research and help women everywhere live in balance with their hormones.
Our Founders
Our CEO Karolina’s story
– As a woman who has personally experienced the despair and frustration of seeking answers to my hormone-related health problems, I completely recognize the importance – and need – of understanding and being able to manage my hormonal health in a seamless and efficient way.
When I lost my wellbeing, I struggled with a range of debilitating symptoms, and went to multiple doctors seeking help. But no one I saw seemed to understand the connection between my emotional state and the physical problems I was experiencing. I was told to take antidepressants and stop working as a high-performance professional, as if these were the only possible solutions.
It wasn’t until I did my own research, visited specialists overseas, and finally received a diagnosis of an underactive Thyroid and hormonal imbalances that I was able to start actually addressing and improving my health issues. These conditions could have been easily detected and treated if someone had taken the time to understand my symptoms and connect the dots that led to my problems.
The knowledge gap between women and hormones
– As I journeyed to improve my own health, I became increasingly aware of the significant gap between the available information about hormone problems faced by women, and accessing the right care for those issues. I saw a need for a holistic solution that could help us better understand how much our hormones affect us – not just when we are trying to get pregnant. or entering Menopause, but in everyday life as well.
Through my own experiences, and conversations with other women, I came to understand the significant impact that our ever-changing bodies and hormones can have on our physical and mental wellbeing. That’s why I founded Hormona – to empower women to take control of their hormonal health and understand their own bodies.
That’s why we’re here. One of the main, and best, ways femtech can help address this imbalance is through the collection and analysis of data. That historic gender bias means there’s a shocking lack of information, not just about the conditions that affect women, but women’s bodies in general. As hormones control almost every process in a human body, knowing how they’re working – or not – can tell us a huge amount about the health of that body.
And if millions of us are tracking and adding to that data, the knowledge we’ll accumulate about women’s bodies will be immensely powerful. It’ll have implications for treatment and diagnosis, as well as living with great hormones every single day. But it’s not just about data. Technology can also improve access to health information and treatment to women anywhere and everywhere. Regardless of mobility, location, health status or anything else, no woman should be left out of this conversation.
Ultimately, Hormona’s goal is to use this incredible opportunity, where tech and medicine align, to improve the lives of all women. Our research and unique therapies will eventually inform the entire conversation around women’s health.
