Developing a Spring Self Care Routine

We all know the struggles of a New Year, with the hustle and bustle of work and other commitments. A way to try and reclaim some of this time is to develop an easy and repeatable spring self care routine.

Starting your spring self care: Find a night

Find a night in your busy schedule where you have no plans and can just look after yourself. With our busy schedules it can be very difficult to set aside time to look after ourselves, but here at Selfish Darling we know the importance of self care.

It is important to have a short routine that you can do every day, but dedicating a whole evening to yourself is highly beneficial to your health.

Cleaning

First you need to make sure that your environment is clean and welcoming. Of course, it can be difficult to set aside time in your busy schedule to clean and tidy your home, so take a look at my article on having a personal reset day.

A clean and tidy environment is very important for self care, see my article on keeping a tidy living environment. It is important to maintain a certain level of cleanliness throughout your week. Even if that is just hoovering once and wiping down the surfaces.

Comfy clothes

In order to make the most out of your spring self care you need to invest in some comfy clothes. These are lounge clothes that you can just throw on at the end of a busy day. This way you take off the constricting work clothes and leave the stresses of your day behind.

Skin Care

Skin care is important in any self care routine. Despite it being Spring, the harshness of the winter weather still sticks around. Therefore it is important to keep your skin nice and moisturised.

Make sure to develop an easy everyday skin care routine individual to your needs. This can be as easy as washing your face and moisturising.

For the self care night that I recommend you incorporate into your Spring self care, I suggest making your skin care a bit more of a priority. Invest in some nice face masks and exfoliants. Truly pamper yourself.

Good book

Something I recommend to all my friends who are trying to revamp their Spring self care is to find a good book. Take some time to yourself and get lost in a good book.

Make a list of all the books you want to read and immerse yourself. It is the perfect way to get away from our busy schedules and constant screen time that stresses us.

Spring self care: Flowers

Spring is the perfect time of the year to enjoy flowers. With the new growth after the cold harsh winter, flowers start to blossom. Daffodils are the most well known Spring flower and are beautiful to display.

I recommend keeping some flowers in a vase on a windowsill or on your desk. Keep them somewhere you will see them. Bringing the outdoors in will improve your mood and help you appreciate Springtime more.
