Health and lifestyle podcasts
Self-Care Sunday
Self-Care Sunday is one of my personal favourite podcasts. It is hosted by Kayley Reed and discusses mental health, entrepreneurship, social media and self-care.
Kayley introduces all of these topics with personal stories, interviews and advice. She talks about how she managed to create her own brand whilst staying true to herself and ensuring that she was taking care of herself.
Many of the episodes involve interviews with other social media influencers and business owners who share their own experiences and advice.
Mental health is an extremely important aspect of Self-Care Sunday. Kayley discusses issues with social media, societal norms as well as her own experiences. She also offers advice on the best ways to take care of yourself in a world full of harmful social media and constant expectations.
Self-Care Sunday advocates strongly for ‘Me Time’, and discusses the best ways to make the most of your self-care.
This podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Soundcloud. Kayley also has a website and a well maintained social media presence. Through these other mediums she provides advice from her podcast.
The Healthy Self Podcast
Similar to Self-Care Sunday, The Healthy Self podcast discusses everything that affects our day to day lives. From relationships to our nervous system, The Healthy Self podcast offers advice on how best to take care of our mental, physical and emotional health.
While the range is broad, this podcast allows you to explore the many aspects of your life and body.
The episodes are 15 minutes long and there are many of them (having run from 2017). This allows you to easily keep up to date and dip in as you wish.
This podcast is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
‘I Weigh’ With Jameela Jamil
I am a big supporter of the ‘I Weigh’ movement on social media. Jameela Jamil is a wonderful speaker and influencer who is a great advocate for body positivity. Jameela created this podcast in order to host discussions and provide advice with relation to the ‘I Weigh’ movement.
On the podcast she hosts diverse influencers, celebrities and health professionals who all offer advice and personal experiences with body issues and positivity.
The podcast reflects the views of the ‘I Weigh’ movement. Spreading awareness about body positivity and targeting unhealthy diet culture as well as unpacking problematic societal norms around body shape.
Jameela encourages people to love and nurture their bodies. She celebrates progress and not perfection.
This podcast is available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as many online podcast providers.
Serenity Radio
Serenity Radio is a bit different to the previous podcasts. It provides 24 hour broadcasting online and via radio. This is wonderful as it ensures that you can tune in when you feel like it and will be met with different speakers and information.
The radio encourages ‘You Time’ and suggests tuning into the radio when you are taking time for yourself in order to relax and educate yourself on the best ways to utilise your own self-care.
Serenity Radio covers topics from mental health, to productivity, to learning how to be selfish. Messages which we at Selfish Darling certainly support and echo.
The radio often hosts holistic experts who inform the listeners of the best ways to look after your physical and mental health with suggestions of remedies and self-care products.
This radio is available on their website and on the radio.
